Omaha, NE Public Schools
The Omaha Public Schools prepares students for life in a world where understanding and appreciation of diversity are essential. The Omaha Public Schools currently provides 46,000 students the opportunity for a first class education. These students come from various ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds and work and play side by side- sharing discoveries and solving problems together. Omaha families value education and expect a great deal from their children and their schools, with the majority of Omaha graduates go on to college or technical schools. Omaha Public Schools belongs to the North Central Association and is one of the country’s few major urban school districts to maintain state AA accreditation. Westside Community School District 66
Located in the heart of Omaha’s Westside is the nationally acclaimed public school district, Westside Community School District 66, one of the best in the nation. With a superior staff, administration and Board of Education committed to achieving excellence in education for all students, Westside provides high academic excellence in a friendly, caring environment.
Offering a diverse curriculum to meet all needs of all students, Millard’s goal is to provide a world class education for all students. All day Kindergarten is offered in every elementary school and the “High Ability Learner” program has been expanded to include musically gifted children as well. Special education programs are provided to serve students from preschool to high school as well.
Offering specialized programs, including Nebraska’s only K-12 International Baccalaureate program and the Core Academy, the Millard School District was awarded a national Magna Award, given by the American School Board Journal and Marriott School Services. As well as that honor, thirteen Millard schools have earned the Blue Ribbon Award from the U.S. Department of Education, a well deserved honor, as Millard’s SAT and ACT scores are higher than metro, state and national averages. The American Library Association has called Millard’s school libraries among the best in the nation and The American Music Conference has named its music program one of the top 100 programs in the country.
Top-rated by Kiplinger Magazine, it was named as one of the reasons Omaha’s rated at number 3 in the list of the Top ten Best Cities for 2008. It has received praise for attaining world class results through its strategic planning and is one of three districts nationwide profiled in the book, Leading Change, The Case for Continuous Improvement, published by the National Schools Board Association
For almost a century and a half, schools in the Millard district have prepared their students for the world outside the classroom, led by dedicated teachers, hard working students have made every effort, along with their supportive parents to ensure that Millard keeps providing a world class education.
Elkhorn Public Schools
Elkhorn teachers are at the top of the ladder, with approximately 60% of them
having earned a Masters Degree in their area of expertise and many who are
annually recognized for their outstanding contributions in those areas while
working to remain updated with technological opportunities, passing them on to
their students.
Opportunities have included in the past, parents accessible student information via PowerSchool, an online supplemental textbook and increased use of SmartBoards as well as Personal Response Systems. Students can avail themselves to the mini computer labs in each elementary school as well as internet in each classroom and computerized media centers and labs.
In addition, The Elkhorn Public School Foundation makes a“Kids Campus” available at all elementary buildings to provide before and after school care for all elementary students.
Over 25,000 people live in the school district that includes the former city of Elkhorn, with enrollment of 5,150 students in grades K-12 in the 48 square miles located on the west edge of the Omaha metropolitan area.
Average students per classroom is 21.7 and the small classrooms are reflected in the students consistent above average scores on state and national ACT composite averages. With these statistics, it’s not surprising that over 80% of EHS students attend college or university after high school graduation!

The University of Nebraska Medical Center
Nebraska’s only public academic health sciences center, UNMC has made the commitment to the education of the 21st century health care worker and workforce, finding cures and treatments for illnesses that devastate families and devoting themselves to providing the best care for patients. Institute for Culinary Arts @ MCC
Nine options are available at the Institute for the Culinary Arts at MCC and can prepare a student for a variety of jobs in the rapidly growing food service industry. Hands on experience is taught in an amazing state of the art facility with caring, knowledgeable instructors guiding the student from beginning to end. Whether a student decides to choose Arts and Management or the Hospitality degree, MCC will prepare you for a great future. If, after you’ve completed your education at MCC, a student wishes to continue to a four year institution, credits can be transferred to the University of Nebraska or other four year institutions with ease.
